Think on these things
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. - Philippians 4:8 KJV
By faith, we have been brought into a family relationship with God through Christ Jesus His Son. We are to live our lives as unto the Lord by walking in spirit and in truth and trusting His Word. Righteous living depends on right thinking. We are directed to take control of our thoughts and our imaginations. We are told to take every thought captive to the Lord (II Corinthians 10:5), to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly (Colossians 3:16), and not to allow the thoughts of our heart to control us (II Corinthians 10:5). What we put into our mind determines what comes out in our words and actions. Proper thinking is not optional for God’s children.
Quote: The greatest area of sin in a believer’s life is not the area of actions, but the area of thought (pride, lust, covetousness, greed, suspicion, discouragement, etc.)
Proverbs 23:7a says, For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:
Quote: You're not what you think you are, but what you think - you are!
God is telling us to focus our attention on those things that are in accordance with His laws and His character. Our scripture today says, “think on these things.” We are to think on, weigh it out, and take account of these things. Christ renews our thinking so that we learn to fill our minds with the things that are from God. Asking God to change our thinking is an important matter to pray about.
